Metagame update
Modern in January 2023
Modern in January 2023 is established. Late in 2022, we could observe some shifts in the metagame, largely due to two main factors . The first one was the ban of Yorion, Sky Nomad. It led to the collapse of 4c Omnath and to the temporary rise of creature decks. In the long run however, their presence toned down a bit and dropped to ‘regular’ numbers, thanks to the dominance of Ragavan decks: Murktide and Scam. The second one was the release of The Brothers’ War. It didn’t have too great of an impact on Modern, as players haven’t found any format-defying cards, only a few roleplayers:
Bitter Reunion as a discard outlet for Archon Creativity decks with Persists. It also enabled a sub archetype: Jund Creativity with black for four Persists and discard instead of blue for Spell Pierce
