General sideboarding guidelines
Are Guide of Souls and Ocelot Pride good in the matchup? If they are not, you have at least eight candidates to remove and sideboarding gets much easier. Most likely, you want to be a midrange-control deck if you take out your one drops, so any value cards are welcome. If your opponent plays an aggressive deck, you want your spot removal and sweepers as well. The rest depends on the matchup. What about removal spells? If they are not good, you have plenty of room for postboard improvements. But be careful, as Galvanic Discharge can kill planeswalkers and Phlage can finish your opponent. So against UW Control, the only obvious card to cut is Solitude. Are you the control or the aggro decks postboard? Against Jeskai and Esper Blink, you want to go into the lategame so cut one drops and opt for countermagic and Teferi instead. Against Boros Energy, you are the control...
